With three Juno awards and a Grammy nomination, Glass Tiger performed on Tina Turner's 1987 European tour and released 2nd album, the double Platinum Diamond Sun in 1988. In 1991 Glass Tiger teamed up with the legendary Rod Stewart to record the classic “My Town” which appears on the platinum selling album Simple Mission. This DVD taken from the MuchMusic archives from one of four sell-out performances at the Ontario Place Forum June 19th, 1986 at the beginning and highest point of their career, includes a bonus interview taped in 2006 with the band members. The Glass Tiger story continues today as the band remains together and continues to perform to sell out crowds across Canada, with a new album coming in out 2007. World Cup fans probably caught singer Al\lan Frew’s half time segment that aired earlier in the summer. |

GOWAN Live In Concert |

A house-hold name to anyone over 30 in Canada, Gowan’s impressive career includes the multi-platinum Strange Animal album, the platinum Great Dirty World and five gold albums. All of Gowan’s biggest hits, including “A Criminal Mind”, “You’re a Strange Animal”, and “All The Lovers In the World” appear on this DVD. This DVD from the MuchMusic archives was shot in 1990 at Spectrum in Montreal and captures Gowan at the peak of his career as a solo artist. Bonus features include an interview with Much Music alumni Denise Donlon, a bootleg clip of fan favourite “Victory” and a live video cut of “City Of The Angels”. This DVD is currently the only Gowan product available at retail from the Strange Animal era.

PAYOLA$ Live In Concert |

The Payola$ are one of the most influential Canadian bands of the1980s. Led by the creative team of Paul Hyde and Bob Rock (now one of the world’s foremost record producers), the duos impressive career began when the Payola$ independent single “China Boys” started getting radio airplay. They were quickly signed by A&M Records and released their debut album Introducing Payola$ in 1980. This DVD taken from the MuchMusic Big Ticket archives was recorded October 15th 1982 at the peak of the Payola$ popularity at the Concert Hall in Toronto, and includes a bonus feature interview with Bob Rock and Paul Hyde recorded in 2005.

The Pursuit Of Happiness (TPOH) led by songwriter, lead singer and Edmonton native Moe Berg captured the imagination of Canadians in 1987 when they released an independent single and music video for the now famous Canadian coming of age song - “I’m an Adult Now”. A bidding war among labels ensued resulting in their signing to Chrysals/EMI and the release of their debut album, Love Junk in 1988, quickly went Platinum in Canada and sold over 100,000 units in the US. The band re-recorded their indie hit, as well as the video of which both versions and four other videos are included as bonus features on this DVD. One-Sided Story followed in 1990 and went gold in Canada. The group toured Canada regularly to sell-out crowds, and continues to perform and record today. Last year TPOH were inducted into the Canadian Music Week Indie Awards Hall of Fame. This DVD, taken from the MuchMusic archives, was recorded at Snowjob in March 1993 in Whistler BC. |
