Artist: Bruce Cockburn
Album: Slice O Life (Solo Live)
|
| |
|
Slice O Life features such hits as 'If I Had a Rocket Launcher,' Bruce's classics 'Lovers in a Dangerous Time' and 'Wondering Where the Lions Are.' Originally recorded with a full band, these and other songs like 'World of Wonders' have been rearranged and performed on acoustic guitar—often with stunning results. In particular, the polyrhythmic solo on 'Rocket Launcher,' full of complex, cascading notes, is especially mesmerizing.

Artist: Madison Violet
Album: No Fool For Trying
|
| |
|
“Toronto’s Madison Violet (Lisa MacIsaac and Brenley MacEachern) write heartbreakingly beautiful songs and harmonize gorgeously over subtly layered guitar, banjo, mandolin, accordion, harmonica and fiddle. The results are haunting and totally captivating, which explains why Madison Violet has garnered critical adulation and a wide following.” - Food & Drink Winter 2010
“As the front women for Madison Violet, Brenley MacEachern and Lisa MacIssac serve up vocal
harmonies that recall fellow Canadians Kate and Anna McGarrigle that are set to a folk-country
backing that evokes memories of Neil Young’s classic 1972 album Harvest.” – ICON January 2010

“In spite of changes in membership, the foursome continues to grow its audience – which now includes the world – with a high-energy mix of classical, world and pop music masterminded by founding violinist-vocalist Peter DeSotto.” – Toronto Star
A hot new sound and style with the sensational addition of percussion to QG’s mix of instrumentals and songs.
